CSR and Regional Responsible Competitiveness

Challenges in Implementing Voluntary Sustainability Standards in China

This presentation was held by Mr Daniel Taras, Senior Project Manager at the Sino-German CSR Project, at the conference “Promoting Stakeholder Dialogue and Social Responsibility in China” which was organised by Social Accountability International (SAI) in collaboration with the Sino-German CSR Project, Social Accountability Accreditation Services (SAAS), Solidaridad, the China National Textile & Apparel Council (CNTAC), the Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) and the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency (HKQAA) at the latter’s Guangzhou office on 22 July 2010. It provides insights into some of the key challenges in implementing voluntary sustainability standards in China, focusing on CSR services and the social auditing sector in particular, based on a number of surveys commissioned by the Sino-German CSR Project.

Local Governments` CSR Policies in China

This presentation was held by Ms Dai Yibo, Consulting Director at the Development Centre for Chinese CSR of China WTO Tribune, during an International Exchange Meeting organized by the Sino-German CSR Project on 17 November 2010. It contains the main results of the study “Analysis of Local Governments’ CSR Policies in China” which was conducted by China WTO Tribune with support from the Sino-German CSR Project in the period from April to June 2010. It includes an analysis of the CSR promotion policies of eight local governments in China, e.g. Shanghai Pudong New District, Yantai Economic Technological Development Zone, and Wenzhou City and Shenzhen City.

The Market for Sustainable Tea: – Opportunities, Challenges, Instruments

This presentation was held by Ms Zhu Lingbo, technical advisor at the Sino-German CSR Project, at the “Second Seminar on Sustainable Tea in China” on 25 March 2011. This event was organised by the China Tea Marketing Association and was attended by more than 100 participants, including key stakeholders from the Chinese tea sector, signatory members of the China Tea Marketing Association, international and national experts, official representatives of major tea producing provinces, prominent tea producers and NGOs. The seminar gave the tea industry the opportunity to better understand international sustainability standards and key certification schemes in the agricultural sector and to learn first-hand the tangible benefits associated with implementing these standards.
