From 13 to 14 May 2010, a two-day training workshop titled “Planning of Remediation Measures on Contaminated Sites in the Context of Brownfield Reactivation - Exchange of Experiences and Exercises, Examples from Germany and China” was held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province. Approximately 70 participants from provincial and local environmental authorities, environmental monitoring stations, academia, and waste management enterprises took part in the event.
The workshop was organized within the framework of a Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) Project and was conducted by experts from DHC Consult GmbH, WESSLING Beratende Ingenieure GmbH, and the University of Applied Sciences Osnabrück, and in close cooperation with the Zhejiang Solid Waste Management and Supervision Centre under the Zhejiang Environmental Protection Department.
The workshop gave insight into environmental risk assessment, the remediation of contaminated sites, and brownfield reactivation from the perspective of experiences in Germany. A similar training was conducted from 10 to 11 May 2010, in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, another pilot city of the PPP Project.The two training workshops contributed to progress made at workshops held in Hangzhou and Suzhou from 12 to 16 October, and 19 to 23 October 2009, respectively. The PPP Project’s concluding conference will be held in October 2010. |
