On 23rd March 2010, Sino-European Roundtable on CSR and Rights and Interests of Employees was convened in Beijing. The roundtable was jointly organized by the Sino-German CSR Project, CHINA WTO Tribune, and the Business Social Compliance Initiative (BCSI). A total of 30 representatives from governments, business, NGOs, academic institutes and media attended.
Mr. Rolf Dietmar, Director of the Sino-German CSR Project, and Mr. Yin Gefei, Vice-President of CHINA WTO Tribune, gave opening remarks to highlight the importance of the topic during the process of economic transition in China.
Dr. Olga Orozco, Managing Director Operations, BSCI introduced the situation of employee rights protection and social compliance at workplaces in Europe. The other Chinese speakers, Mr. Zhang Junfeng, Vice President of Institute of International Labor and Social Security under Ministry of Human Resource and Social Security, Mr. Guo Jun, Director of Democratic Management Department of All China Federation of Trade Unions, Mr. Liang Xiaohui, Lead Researcher of Social Responsibility Office of China National Textile And Apparel Council (CNTAC), Mr. Cheng Duosheng, Director of Employer Work Department of China Enterprise Confederation/Global Compact Promotion Office, introduced the current situation on protection of employees rights and possible resolutions. Other participants from enterprises, NGOs and industrial associations shared their experiences on CSR and employee rights protection from their perspectives. |
