The topic of the 2nd International Conference on CSR Reporting in China was “Responsible Communication Creates Value”.  The conference took place at the Empark Grand Hotel in Beijing on 2 December2009 and was jointly organised by the Sino-German Corporate Social Responsibility Project, the China WTO Tribune and the China Business Council for Sustainable Development (CBCSD). This is the second time that they have worked together on the topic of CSR reporting in China. The First International Conference on CSR Reporting in China took place in Beijing on 16 July2007.

More than 200 representatives from almost 150 organizations such as central government bodies, enterprises, research institutes, NGOs and media participated in the conference. Officers from related department of MOFCOM and SASAC and representatives from organizers delivered opening remarks. Representatives from the China Enterprises Committee, the CSR Research Center of the Economics Department of CASS, the Shanghai Stock Exchange, the AccountAbility,China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment, COSCO, State Grid, China Huaneng Group, BASF, BP, Coca-Cola, Huafeng Group, etc gave keynote speeches on CSR Reporting and information disclosure. Some of them participated in the roundtable discussion about the value of CSR reports and stakeholders’ opinions on them.

At the conference the organizers published ”Research on Corporate Social Responsibility Reporting in China 2001-2009” and announced the list of “Golden Bee 2009 Excellent CSR Report” awards to promote the awareness of the value of CSR reporting and responsible communication in the future.
