Held at the Oriental Bay International Hotel in Beijing on 16 October 2009, the seventh China CSR Journalist Forum focused on Gender and Corporate Social Responsibility. The Forum was jointly organized by the Sino-German Corporate Social Responsibility Project and the China WTO Tribune and was attended by more than 30 journalists.
Julia Broussard, Country Programme Manager at the United Nations Development Fund for Women, shared her experiences on gender issues and highlighted the important role that media plays in this issue, particularly as a contribution to changing social values and public opinion on fostering gender equality. Liang Xiaohui, Research Fellow at the CSR Promotion Office of the China National Textile And Apparel Council, discussed gender issues from the perspective of a promoter of CSR practices within industry.
Representatives from different industries including JPMorgan Chase & Co., Omron (China) Co. and Novartis also gave insight into their CSR practices and gender equality and presented concrete and effective measures to protect the interests of female employees. Open discussions during the workshop gave participants the opportunity to exchange relevant experiences and further deepen their understanding of CSR and gender. |
