Jointly organised by the Sino-German Corporate Social Responsibility Project, the Zhejiang Economic and Information Technology Commission (ZEITC), and AccountAbility, a leading international think-tank on sustainable development, a half-day meeting titled “Responsible Competitiveness Pilot Project in Zhejiang: Sector Policy Discussion Roundtable” was convened in Hangzhou at the Zhejiang Braim International Hotel on 23 September 2009. In total, 19 representatives from government organizations, industrial association, academia, research institution, consultancy companies and interviewed companies participated in the meeting.
The Responsible Competitiveness Pilot Project in Zhejiang, which was implemented by the Sino-German CSR Project, AccountAbility and the ZEITC, conducted cutting-edge research in both the textile and pharmaceutical sectors in Zhejiang Province in an effort to draw conclusions that will help shape the future of responsible competitiveness in China. The expert round table provided the project team with the opportunity to gather feedback from different parties on the comments and feedback to the drafted report “Responsible Competitiveness in Zhejiang: A Study of the Medicines and Textile Sectors”. The report will finally serve as a policy recommendation to Zhejiang government with regard to responsible competitiveness, and meanwhile, it will also be distributed on the national and international level to promote findings, valuable experiences and best practices in Zhejiang. |
